In this jigsaw comparison, we will compare two cheap jigsaws that are bestsellers. Both have a very low price, yet they have some features not usually seen in this price range or even in higher-end models. Choosing between Einhell or Black and Decker will be difficult because I personally prefer the Black and Decker brand, but in this comparison, the Einhell jigsaw is quite more complete.

Buying Guide for Jigsaws

Buying Guide for Jigsaws

21 points to consider before buying a jigsaw Great! We've decided to buy a jigsaw. But in the market, there are so many brands producing so many different models that

Einhell TC-JS 60/1 Jigsaw. Pros and Cons

As we can see in the table and images, the Einhell TC-JS 60/1 jigsaw stands out for its more robust appearance, its quick blade change system with automatic ejection (which tends to get stuck if not kept clean and somewhat lubricated), and the speed regulation wheel. However, the blade guide wheel might put off anyone who has been using jigsaws for a while.

Black and Decker KS501-QS. Pros and Cons

As for the Black and Decker KS501-QS jigsaw, it has the backing of a brand with many years of experience in manufacturing this type of jigsaw, and after testing both, I have the impression that they have paid more attention to the small details.

For example, the blade lift rod seems to move more precisely to me, and the guide wheel also seems more accurate.

Additionally, the blowing system of this Black and Decker jigsaw is a plus in a cheap jigsaw.

It does not have a speed regulator, which is very common in this price range, so it is more limited when it comes to cutting metals. But what puts me off the most is the blade attachment system with screws. This type of attachment can deter anyone starting with DIY projects.

When choosing between the dust extraction system or the dust blowing system, in these types of cheap jigsaws, the extraction systems are usually not very efficient, but the blowing system does not help with cleanliness if we are going to use the jigsaw in a room at home, although it does help in following the cutting line.

Which cheap jigsaw to buy between these two?

In other reviews and comparisons, I may have to rely on the information that manufacturers put on the internet and my experience working with jigsaws, but in this case, I bought these two jigsaws and was able to try them firsthand.

Black and Decker vs Einhell. The Final Decision Between These Two Models

If I have to choose which cheap jigsaw to buy for occasional wood cutting, I would initially go with the Black and Decker KS501-QS (but be careful, read until the end) because of the higher quality blade guide wheel, the blowing system, and the lightweight. After trying both machines, the Black and Decker KS501-QS seems more precise, more manageable, and more comfortable to use.

I will have to deal with the blade attachment system with screws, but I will be able to make more precise cuts thanks to better blade guidance and the blowing system that will keep the cutting line clean so I can see it well.

Buuut… I discovered an important issue. The blade that comes with it is made of a slightly thinner sheet metal than usual. And this is because the blade attachment system has a fairly narrow slot that the blade has to fit into. I noticed that the other blades I have for wood are made of slightly thicker sheet metal and do not fit into that slot, ending up a bit tilted. It’s a shame because I really liked this small jigsaw.

So, Einhell or Black and Decker? I will definitely go with the Einhell TC-JS 60/1 jigsaw, which, although it feels a bit more rough when cutting, has many more options, and I can easily use the blades I have. I will even be able to use blades for cutting metal with the confidence that I won’t ruin them prematurely if I reduce the motor’s rotation speed. I will have a more versatile saw that will be useful for more than just light and occasional work.
